Project overview

Project brief

Kogifi reimagined the ielts.org experience to put test-takers first: a modern, accessible design, validated information architecture, and Sitecore-powered contextual personalization that guides users through the right test choices and improves engagement.

Scope: UX redesign, information architecture validation, Sitecore personalization, usability testing, performance & accessibility improvements.
Platform: Sitecore (contextualisation & personalization).
Key outcome: A modern, test-taker-focused platform that improves engagement, trust and time-to-decision while enabling continuous optimisation.

Challange

IELTS.org needed a modern, user-focused platform to support the launch of IELTS Online and better serve test-takers:

  • A dated visual identity and design that reduced trust and engagement.
  • Navigation and content layout that made it hard for users to find essential information quickly.
  • The site targeted a very broad audience but lacked a clear test-taker focus, which is critical for IELTS Online.
  • Underutilised Sitecore capabilities prevented delivery of dynamic, contextual experiences and personalization.

Our solution

We built a user-centred Sitecore solution focused on validation, personalization and clear digital journeys:

  • User-focused design — refreshed visual identity and modern, dynamic layouts prioritising clarity, accessibility and trust.
  • Test-driven IA — validated information architecture and navigation through usability testing to ensure decisions were driven by real user insights.
  • Search & journey mapping — mapped and optimised digital journeys so test-takers can quickly discover the right test, resources and next steps.
  • Sitecore contextualisation — implemented Sitecore personalization and rules to serve tailored content and pathways for different audiences (test-takers, institutions, agents).
  • Performance & accessibility — designed for fast, accessible experiences across devices, with clear content prioritisation for fast decision-making.

Outcome

Below are the measurable business and technical results achieved after delivery.

  • A modern, bilingual intranet deployed as RAC’s root SharePoint site that increases trust and engagement.
  • Centralised access to communications, systems and knowledge — reducing tool switching and improving productivity.
  • Faster editorial workflows with clear content structure, approvals and guidance supported by training and manuals.
  • Successful migration of legacy news and content with no major disruption to daily operations.
  • Strong performance and responsive UI across devices, meeting accessibility and security expectations.
  • Positive stakeholder feedback and active production use; the platform is ready for Phase Two (external integrations and continued enhancements).
